Shanghai
YESTERDAY:
- turns out lunch plans with Grandma were cancelled
- ended up heading to Sha Tin for a sushi lunch with the cousins
- took us about 1.5 hours to get there
- very confusing mall layout
- sushi was pretty tasty though
- head back to Tai Koo to hang out with my Dad
- dropped by an Ikea
- did some clothing shopping for Jackie
- head to grandma’s birthday party!
- met my mom’s old friend
- also met some relatives I haven’t seen in ages
- Jackie wasn’t feeling too well
- took a taxi back
TODAY:
- depart for Shanghai in morning
- took Jackie’s mom to the Kyra lounge in HKG
- apparently Chase Sapphire lounge converted a few months ago
- flight to Shanghai wasn’t too bad
- somebody came up to me to ask for directions
- claimed she was from Germany and saw my US passport
- I wasn’t very helpful since it was my first time in the city
- met up with Jackie’s dad
- took a Didi to the hotel
- Jackie’s mom also not feeling well
- dinner at a Shanghai shrimp noodle restaurant
- crab and shrimp over noodles were delicious
- head out to Nanjing road
- super touristy area
- lots of fun shops
- harbor view was pretty but crowded
- got yelled at by a police officer for standing on a wall to take a picture
- a dozen people did the same thing after me though …
- got to sleep around noon
LEARNINGS:
- Shanghai is a pretty cosmopolitan city
- also very clean
