Hangzhou
YESTERDAY: *took a train to visit another city called Hangzhou
- 2 hour train ride with stops
- checked into a fancy hotel
- only 4 stories, but it hovers diagonally over a mall
- had a delicious lunch at a place called Shanghai Impressions
- beautiful restaurant
- delicious sticky rice dishes
- head to Xiwu lake (west lake)
- super touristy area
- waited 40 minutes to get a good view of the water lightshow
- pretty neat! like the bellagio but only once per night and 4 songs in a row
- wandered around a bit
- found a public Chinese opera performance
- they were in the window of a bridge between two high rises
- dinner at a little restaurant
- turns out they had a back area which was much fancier
- dongbei pork was pretty tasty
- vinegar fish was tasty too
- head back to hotel
TODAY:
- breakfast at the hotel
- tasty chicken noodle soup
- head to train station
- return back to Shanghai
- dropped by hotel
- picked up my package from manufacturer visit
- hotel had some weird power issues
- unable to check-in
- head back out to a fancy restaurant
- called 3 Warehouse and it’s popular on social media
- food wasn’t bad, but this was more about pictures
- croaker fish was delicious
- couldn’t taste the truffle oil with my sore throat though
- picked up some food from a different mall
- drop by Jackie’s 2nd uncle on dad’s side
- Uncle Willy is father to Margaret (in NYC) and Katherine (in HK)
- he’s bedridden and on dialysis
- went for a walk outside his apartment
- super nice area
- head back to hotel
- power is back on luckily
- laundry
- went to sleep early
LEARNINGS:
- apparently this wasn’t the Westlake in the Chinese soup dish
- so many cosplayers
- there wasn’t even a convention going on!
